Welcome to St. Bernadette Catholic School

"Jesus intended
for us to be overwhelmed by the blessings of regular days. He said it was
the reason He had come."

Home and School News
The Home and
School Association would like to wish everyone A Very Merry Christmas and a
Safe and Happy New Year!!!
The Carnival is coming very soon and we are still looking for a Committee for
the small raffle and someone to head up the corn booth. If you are
interested please contact Cindy Squires at cjls@stbcs.org.
Please remember that if you chaperone the morning the carnival is open To the
school children your hours go towards the school and not to the carnival.
Home and School will be purchasing the slides for the playground. The
Secret Santa shop rose over $1,000.00 which will help us pay for the slides
needed in the playground. Mr. Polio was able to get us a good deal, so
the final cost will be $3,000.00.
Our
Pampered Chef fundraiser had sales of over $1,500.00 so we are able to get
$350.00 Worth of Pampered Chef products to put in an auction basket for our
annual Dinner/Dance and Auction. This year’s theme is Saturday Night
Fever. We are working hard to make this year’s event a big success.
Please look for more information to come home soon.

Teacher Appreciation Week
We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of you who helped make
Teacher Appreciation week a success even with dates changed and moved
around. Those who helped in classrooms so that the teachers could enjoy a
peaceful breakfast and lunch. Those who prepared such delicious meals
which are still being talked about. Those who crafted fruit baskets from
an abundance of bounty. Those who helped set up and last but not least,
those who helped clean up.
Thank You!!!

Dear St. Bernadette Parish,
St. Bernadette Catholic School is
participating in the Labels for Education Program. It is a great way to
get FREE merchandise for our school, and Campbell makes it so easy to redeem
labels. To meet our goals, we need to collect 100,000 labels. With
your help, St. Bernadette Catholic School can make this year a great one.
Participating in the program is easy-simply
save labels from Campbell products and send them to school. A list of the
eligible products is attached.
Triple your efforts by asking your friends
and family to collect labels on behalf of our school. If you have any
question or would like to help with our Labels for Education collection, please
call Cindy Squires at 954-321-6282. Don’t forget to visit
labelsforeducation.com for a complete listing of participating products and
more information about the program.
God Bless and Thank you so much for your
support. Together with Campbell’s Labels for Education-we can build a
better school for our children – one label at a time.
Sincerely,
Cindy Squires

Sixth Grader Emilie Colon has been
acting since the age of 9, when she auditioned for and got accepted in a 10 day
performing arts workshop in the New York Catskills. The workshop
culminated with Emilie making her stage debut at the Orpheum Theater,
off-Broadway, in New York City. Since then Emilie has been acting locally
with her community theater P.P.T.O.P.A. as well as various other troupes
throughout South Florida. In just the past year Emilie has been cast in
The Music Man (Edith Dunlop), Beauty and the Beast (Chip), The Legacy (Lead
role, Josephina) and The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy).
Emilie is now thrilled to be part of
the beloved musical The Sound Of Music (Brigitta). Emilie has been
rehearsing nightly for the past three months for this great opportunity.
Emilie is also a dedicated Bobcat, she is a member of St. Bernadette's
cheerleading squad. Emilie has been able to juggle all her many interest
while remaining a dedicated and serious student.
Seventh grader Esperanza Montero,
has been dancing classical ballet for the past six years. She currently
trains 20 hours a week and manages to maintain a great academic average.
In 2006 Esperanza auditioned and was accepted to Atlanta Ballet, The Rock
School of Ballet and Orlando City Ballet. She attended Orlando City
Ballet summer intensive for five weeks and was awarded female with the best
stage presence. In 2007 she auditioned to the American Ballet Theatre,
Colorado Ballet (full scholarship awarded), Pittsburgh Ballet, Alvin Ailey,
North Carolina School of the Arts, Universal Ballet, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg
Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet (scholarship awarded). She attended the
Milwaukee Ballet summer intensive program for six weeks and was the only 12
year old in the Pre-Professional level. We all got to see Esperanza’s
grace as she danced last year at our Christmas Pageant. She is truly
talented. Way to go Esperanza.
